Dallas, TX  (Food News)  Students love chocolate milk, but most flavored milks have a lot of added sugar. That’s why the dairy experts at Borden Foodservice have developed a new Reduced-Sugar line of nutritious, fat-free flavored milks that are lower in sugar, but still pack the flavorful punch that kids love to reach for when it’s lunchtime.

Borden’s new Reduced-Sugar flavored milks are the right choice for school foodservice directors looking for meal solutions that offer the perfect balance of nutrition and flavor for their students. The milks taste great and exceed the schools’ nutritional specifications.

Borden’s Reduced-Sugar line of flavored milk is available in chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. They’re nutritiously wholesome and delicious, with nine essential nutrients crucial for kids’ healthy growth and development: calcium, protein, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin B12, potassium, phosphorous, niacin and riboflavin. The fun, flavorful trio also contains no artificial growth hormones, preservatives or high fructose corn syrup.

The most common chocolate milk offering for this school year had 130 calories and 21 grams of sugar per serving. Borden’s Reduced-Sugar chocolate milk is 110 calories, with 18 grams of sugars. Borden’s chocolate milk also has five fewer grams of carbohydrates and 20 fewer milligrams of sodium per 8 ounce serving.

Although it has less sugar, the chocolate milk has an improved, more flavorful chocolate taste. When the dairy experts at Borden went back to the drawing board to create the new milk, they added more cocoa and other natural flavors to give the creamy beverage a richer chocolate flavor.
